Introduction
Sustainable Community Strategy Development and Reviews
East Sussex Strategic Partnership (ESSP) is
committed to regular consultation and feedback, and to reviewing
and updating the Sustainable Community Strategy for East Sussex - Pride of Place - to make sure it reflects the changing needs
of all the people of East Sussex.
How did we develop Pride of Place?
Until recently, each of the six local authorities and six Local Strategic Partnerships in East Sussex in East Sussex had their own community strategy.
In 2007, together we decided to bring our individual strategies into one, integrated strategy - Pride of Place. We took this approach because we believe we can achieve more by having a shared vision of the future and planning and working together to achieve it. This approach also means that we can make best use of our resources, working together where appropriate, while making sure local issues are also tackled.
We asked for your views
In November 2007 the six Local Strategic Partnerships in the county asked people's views about Pride of Place and its vision for 2026. We wanted people to tell us if they thought the priorities set out in the strategy would improve quality of life for people across East Sussex .
We publicised the consultation to the public, local and regional organisations. A consultation survey was available from this website and local libraries. We also ran consultation events for the public and hard to reach young people.
The consultation closed on 12 February 2008.
We collated all the consultation responses and the strategy has been revised in the light of feedback received. The strategy has been circulated to the six Local Strategic Partnerships in the county, and the county, district and borough councils for their approval. The final strategy is now published.
A report on the consultation is available to download:
How will we review and update Pride of Place?
We are currently looking at how we will update Pride of Place. Information on this process, and how you could be involved, will be available in Autumn 2008.
