Our Progress

Sustainable Community Strategy Development and Reviews

Introduction

There are four aspects to the way we manage our performance and measure our progress:

Plan for performance
ESSP produces a Sustainable Community Strategy and a Local Area Agreement (LAA) setting out our performance indicators and targets.

Manage delivery
We manage delivery of services, listen to the views of service users and take action if performance information shows that a target is not on track to be achieved. Find out more about how we manage the Local Area Agreement.

Monitor and report progress
ESSP monitors performance by collecting and analysing data from partners involved in delivering the target, and checking that the data used is accurate. We use this information to produce performance monitoring reports four times a year, and we publish data on our website and on East Sussex in Figures. Read our latest performance report.

Revise plans
The Local Area Agreement (LAA) is ‘refreshed’ once a year to reflect changes in national policy, local priorities and to improve the performance of the LAA. This refresh may result in new targets or changes to existing targets. It is the only opportunity we have to re-negotiate the LAA with Government. The new LAA is due to refreshed in January 2009.

ESSP also carries out community strategy reviews.
