NHS Reforms

The Government’s Health and Social Care Act 2012 changed the way in which health services were commissioned, delivered and assessed. To implement these changes, activities that have taken place in East Sussex include:

  • Setting up an East Sussex Health and Wellbeing Board to coordinate the planning and commissioning of health and care services.
  • Developing local Clinical Commissioning Groups to commission health services in their local area.
  • Transferring responsibility for Public Health from the Primary Care Trusts to East Sussex County Council.
  • Developing a Healthwatch for East Sussex to act as the local consumer voice for people who use and need health and social care services, to provide information about health and care services and support people to make choices.
